Russia Became Aggressive After Ceasefire Shelling Started In Eastern Ukraine Targeted Civilian Targets

Russia ends ceasefire: Russian President Putin announced a 36-hour ceasefire, which has now ended. The war between Russia and Ukraine has again taken an aggressive stance. Following the end of the ceasefire, Moscow has vowed to move swiftly into Ukraine. According to reports, Russia bombed eastern Ukraine at night, in which one person has been reported dead. Local officials gave this information on Sunday (January 8).

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday announced a 36-hour ceasefire keeping in mind the Orthodox Christmas of Russia and Ukraine. However, Ukraine rejected this ceasefire outright and shelling continued in the border areas.

Situation critical in eastern Ukraine

The region’s governor, Oleh Tsinehubov, said on the Telegram messaging app that a 50-year-old man was killed in the northeastern region of Kharkiv as a result of Russian shelling. Let us tell you that most Ukrainian Orthodox Christians traditionally celebrated Christmas on 7 January. Exactly the same was done in Russia.

‘Definitely win’

The Kremlin said Moscow would press ahead with a “special military operation” in Ukraine and win. The Russian state TASS agency quoted Sergei Kiriyenko, Putin’s first deputy chief of staff, as saying, “The tasks set by the president (Putin) for the special military operation will still be carried out … and there will certainly be victory.”

When will the war end?

Significantly, there is no end in sight to the war between Russia and Ukraine. The war which started on February 24 last year is in its 11th month and till now thousands of people have lost their lives. The war has displaced millions and reduced Ukrainian cities to rubble. With this, millions of people of Ukraine are facing power crisis.
