Pakistani Army Requested To Initiate Legal Action For Defaming Senior Army Personnel Against Imran Khan

Imran Khan: The Pakistan Army on Friday (November 4) urged the federal government to initiate legal action against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) head Imran Khan for defaming a senior army personnel. Responding to Khan’s allegations on the involvement of senior army staff in his assassination attempt, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DGISPR), intelligence agency ISI, said, “On behalf of the chairman of PTI, the institution and in particular a senior against baseless and irresponsible allegations”.

Imran Khan was hit by four bullets during a rally in Wazirabad in Punjab province on Thursday. He suffered injuries on his leg. He has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Khan believes that the shots were fired at him at the behest of three people, including Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the country’s Home Minister Rana Sanaullah and Major General Faisal, a senior ISI general.

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations said, “If the honour, security and prestige of the post is being tarnished for its selfishness through some false allegations, then the institution will protect its officers and soldiers no matter what. The allegations leveled against the institution and officials today are extremely false and strongly condemned.”

Making the announcement on Twitter, PTI’s Asad Umar said, “PTI will hold protests in all major cities today on Saturday (November 5), a day after the gun attack on PTI chief Imran Khan.” The attack took place on Thursday, when Khan, along with other PTI leaders, was leading his long rally towards Islamabad standing on top of his container.

Asad Umar’s announcement came hours after Imran Khan called off the anti-government movement, which he had started on October 28.
