Pakistan Election Commission Issues Arrest Warrant Against PM Imran Khan Asad Umar

Imran Khan arrest warrant: A bailable warrant has been issued against former Prime Minister of Pakistan and President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan. Apart from Imran Khan, warrant has also been issued against Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhary. This warrant has been issued by a four-member bench of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

This arrest warrant has been issued to Imran Khan in a case of contempt. While hearing the case, a four-member bench headed by Nisar Durani gave its verdict. Now the hearing of the case has been adjourned till January 17. The Election Commission had issued defamation notices to top PTI leaders last year.

Derogatory things were said about the Election Commission
The Election Commission has said that Imran Khan and big leaders of PTI had said very derogatory things about the Election Commission and the President in their rallies and media. PTI leaders had urged the commission to give exemption in this case but the commission rejected their appeal. The commission has ordered all the leaders to appear on January 17. Earlier, the commission had reserved its decision till January 3.

PTI leaders prepare to go to HC
PTI leader Fawad Chaudhary has spoken of going to the High Court against the decision of the Election Commission. He tweeted and said, ‘We will go to the High Court against the decision and will file a defamation case against the commission. This decision of the Election Commission to issue an arrest warrant is in contempt of the High Court’s decision. The hearing on this case was to be held on January 17, but the decision came today itself, which is a violation of the rules.
