Air Pollution Dhaka Tops List Of Cities With Most Polluted Air
Dhaka AQI: Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka has once again topped the list of cities with the worst air quality in the world. Dhaka topped the list of cities with the worst air, with an air quality index (AQI) figure of 251 at 8.53 am on Thursday, Xinhua news agency quoted local media reports as saying.
India’s Kolkata and Vietnam’s Hanoi come second and third in the list with an AQI of 201 and 192 respectively. In Bangladesh, the AQI is based on five criteria pollutants, (PM10 and PM2.5), NO2, CO, SO2 and ozone. Dhaka has been battling the problem of air pollution for a long time.

Its air quality usually deteriorates in winters and improves during monsoons. Air pollution consistently ranks among the top risk factors for death and disability worldwide.
Apart from this, many cities of India are also facing severe air pollution. In this, the country’s capital Delhi and NCR are at the forefront. However, the AQI in Delhi is based on seven criteria pollutants. But Dhaka tops the list of cities with the world’s most polluted air.

Talking about pollution in Delhi, according to the Central Pollution Control Board, the air quality index in the capital was recorded at 406 on 22 December, which went up to 360 on 21 December. Along with this, talking about PM2.5, it has been recorded at 373 on Thursday. Delhi’s air has remained in the severe category for several months. The bad air of Delhi is causing respiratory diseases in people.
At the same time, according to SAFAR, the wind coming from the north-west direction in Delhi, increase in fog and drop in temperature are important causes of pollution.
